Datarec® 4 Link communication

Connection between the DATaRec® 4 modules

An outstanding new feature of the DATaRec® 4 series is spearheaded by its distributed architecture.
Based on this architecture the system has the ability to not only be expanded almost indefinitely but to be utilized close to the signal source as well.
This implies enormous advantages regarding the reduction of the cable complexity and in the same breath reduces disruptions or outside interferences.

The basis of this local architecture is the serial HEIM link bus between the different types of HEIM DATaRec® 4 modules.
In addition to supporting a range of functions such as data transfer, set up and synchronizing, the HEIM link bus also supports the voltage supply of the individual modules.
In this way the modules are connected electrically to each other by a single cable.
Through this specially shielded Bus there are two communication channels available for simultaneous communication back and forth between modules.
In order to guarantee the high time precision between the individual components, an own synchronization cycle was developed.
The maximum standard cable length between the modules for the HEIM DATaRec® 4 link bus is 10 meters. The maximum HEIM DATaRec® 4 bus length in a chain of HEIM DATaRec® 4 link is 50 meters.

Different cable lengths are available as standard products:

HS350-0005        short cable bridge
HS350-0011        1 Meter cable
HS350-0012        2 Meter cable
HS350-0013        3 Meter cable
HS350-0020        5 Meter cable
HS350-0030        10 Meter cable

An optical repeater is available to bridge even greater distances of up to 500 meters.
